Kyle Hayes has created a very cool Amazon widget that would look good in the sidebar of any blog. The widget itself was created with Flex, and is delivered to the user as a very small Flash file. The widget reads in a list of ISBN numbers from an XML file, then displays those books in order of their sales ranking on Amazon.com.

The project is an excellent way to learn more about Flex and how it connects and retrieves data from web services. Because its open source, you can check out all the code that's required to read in an XML file, connect to Amazon, download the product rankings and display them to end users.
The project is an open source project on RIAForge. Feel free to contribute to it, improve on it and use it in your own site.

Another tool to track Amazon Sales Rank
The Flex widget looks really cool!
Btw, I created Charteous for tracking Amazon Sales Rank over a period of time and show the results as nice charts. You may find it interesting.

Pretty Cool
Pretty cool, but I can't see any of the information on the detailed page, as I don't have one of the "supported browsers". That's the benefit of using Flash: everyone's got it installed!
