I received a rather cryptic message the other day from a developer who has created a pretty cool Flex based desktop application. He has posted a video on YouTube to show off his work - that was pretty much the only link in the email that he sent.
It looks a bit like YourMinis, with widgets that you can drag onto the desktop, and then customize them. I'm not sure if the data in the widgets that you see in the video is real - I've got an email off to him with a request for more information.
Here's the video that's been posted to YouTube. More info as it comes in.

Looks like a rip off of
Looks like a rip off of apples Dashboard.
Data looks like is coming from something like Lightstreamer (http://www.lightstreamer.com/), who have some Flex 2.0 components for using their engine.

Hi Tink,
On my previus explain, I say that Active Desktop try to simulate a Apple Dashboard on the web, then which is the propuse of your comment?

Hi,
I am the developer of Active Desktop, if you want to test the last pre-alpha version go to
http://www.thereplicants.net/flex/test/Dashboard.html
Only three widgets (Stock, Map and Rss feed) can be used. The stock changes are simulated.
I recomend you to use Internet Explorer to check the cube effect. To activate it press shift+ESC and left/right arrow key to rotate the cube or move the mouse, release the shift+esc key to return to the current desk.
The idea of the project is simulate on the web the Apple Dashboard or make a start page like Netvibes o protopage but with more enlightenment, perhaps the internal code need to be revised to allow other user create own widgets.
My hosting service is sometimes slow, be patience please. If you have any question contact me on javitg [at] hotmail [dot] com
Regards from Spain ;-)
