I received some more information on the Flex Active Desktop that I posted about earlier. The developer's name is Javier Torralba, and he works as a program manager in Spain for Infobolsa, a financial information company. In an email, he writes: "The concept was crate a web application like a Apple Dashboard but on the web, and incorporate to it the maximum enlightenment like Linux with Compiz (Beryl) or OSX with flip/spaces/expose effects. Perhaps most of the people using Flex to develop application with typical tables, grids or menus, but I didn’t want limit the user experience to it, and I knew that Flex can do more."

If you'd like to see the Active Desktop in action, he has it available on the web. Keep in mind that its a very early build, so you'll probably run into a few bugs. To get the Cube effect, hold shift+ESC and then move the mouse or use the left and right arrow key to change the current desk.

Here's the video in case you missed it earlier.
