How To Promote Your Flex and AIR Applications

Yesterday at Flex Camp Toronto 2 I presented a session about how to promote your Flex and AIR applications. It includes tips on submitting applications to the Flex Showcase and to blogs like this, submitting content to the developer center, and official Adobe programs for helping you promote your applications. The slides may also be useful if you're interested in keeping track of the latest Flex and AIR applications as well.

I'll be giving a similar presentation at 360 Flex in San Jose if you're interested in hearing it in person, and I'm trying to get sessions at MAX North America and MAX Europe as well.

Flex Camp Toronto 2 was a huge success - nearly 200 people attended the event at the fantastic MARS center in Toronto. I've had great comments via email from people who enjoyed the event. If you haven't attended a Flex Camp event in person, I'd urge you to find one and attend - its a fantastic networking and learning event for you. Adobe MAX is even better than Flex Camp.

Hi Mike Just wanted to take

Hi Mike

Just wanted to take a minute to thank you for your time and presentation at FlexCamp 2 on Thursday night. It was a pleasure to finally meet you and I hope I get a chance to catch you again some time.

I am most certainly glad I made the 400 mile trip :-) to attend.

Thanks Mike for making your

Thanks Mike for making your presentation slides available.
I wasn't sure about the best places to promote my AIR/Flex app (www.mooflair.com) but I think I have followed most of the recommendations (for a small personal project) in your slide except for flex.org. I did try to submit my app but it seems that the site has some problems with the mail server so I coudn't get my password. If you know who should be contacted for this issue as I couldn't find any contact details...
I have found this site www.freshairapps.com that not only gives AIR developers a place to promote their applications but also gives to the users a well designed website with a detailed review for each app, some tutorials and resource about AIR. I get referring links from this site everyday.

Dear Mike:
We are currently devising a Flex Camp here in Chile in partnership with the University of Bio Bio (Concepción, XIII Region) for which I contacted Lisa Ferguson, we believe we can have an attendance exceeding 350 people, as Microsoft has done events with the same number of attendees, will keep you informed.

Sincerely.

Hi Mike, I run the website

Hi Mike,
I run the website that Patrick mentioned above, http://freshAIRapps.com. I'm a Flex and AIR developer too and apart from the official Adobe Marketplace there was little alternative to promoting and getting feedback from the community for AIR apps.

The site is still very young but I wanted to showcase not only the larger apps that we see all over the web but also interesting apps by individual developers struggling to get more exposure.

I also try as best I can to give the apps a full personal review which hopefully starts some discussion with the readers and in turn offers feedback to the developers. Looking at some of the comments I have received this is starting to happen.

Thanks for the mention Patrick, Mooflair is a great app.

Regards James

Hey Mike, Just wanted to say

Hey Mike,

Just wanted to say I had a great time at FlexCamp. This was my first one and I didn't really know what to expect. I found your presentation on promoting our Flex apps very informative. I wasn't really sure whether or not I could mention any of the stuff I'm working on since I'm not sure my company wants its products promoted in this kind of forum, but if we can, we're building one hell of a workflow management system entirely in Flex ;)

Hope to actually get a chance to talk to you at the next Toronto Flex camp.
