Keep your eye on this AIR application: Pownce

Kevin Rose, who started the Digg.com website, has a new startup ready to launch what looks like a pretty cool new product built on Adobe AIR: Pownce. From the description, it looks a bit like Twitter combined with Facebook. In any event, should be interesting if only for the team behind it. Something to keep an eye on.

Digg Like Site for Rich Internet Applications - Flex, Apollo, Ajax, Silverlight and More

TechCrunch had a story the other day about a new start up called CoRank that allows you to setup your own Digg like website for any specific topic. I have set one up for rich Internet applications, and its online at ria.corank.com. The site allows anyone to submit stories that are then voted on and promoted to the front page. There are bookmarklets available for every major browser that allow you to easily add a story to the site, as well as links for blogs and websites.

Check it out and participate if you'd like to help highlight the great stories and examples of rich Internet applications that are out there.

Flex Application Leading Digg API Contest

The Digg Flash API Contest has selected its finalists, and currently a Flex application is currently leading the votes. DiggCharts uses the Flex charting components in a cool way, displaying the number of diggs that an article has received over a period of time. Not only does it look cool, but its also really useful.

There are a number of other Flex applications, and some Apollo applications as well. Wordweb is one of the Flex based applications that doesn't require Apollo to run. Check out the contest to see a complete list of all the finalists.

Apollo All Over Digg Lately

I'm a huge Digg fan. I probably spend more time over there than I should during the day. Normally there's not a lot of traffic over there about Flex and Apollo, Ajax and other sites normally get all the attention. But lately I've noticed a huge increase in the number of posts related to Apollo and Flex over at Digg. Here are a few of the recent ones:

Digg in 3D Using Flash

From Digg on the weekend. Someone has created a very cool 3D version of Digg using Flash and Digg's RSS feed.

Another great example on how to use Flash to display information in a unique way.
