Snackr - A Unique RSS Reader

NJ, who works at Adobe, has created a new AIR application for reading RSS feeds called Snackr. Snackr is not really an RSS reader - its an "RSS Ticker", and puts your RSS feed items in a ticker display at the bottom or side of your monitor.

I've only been running it for a few hours this morning, but I'm already finding it useful. Its a bit distracting to have it running all the time, but its a lot easier to see if there are new items that you might be interested in. And reading the blog entries is super quick - which I love.

Give it a shot and see what you think. Its built with Flex 3 and runs on Adobe AIR.

Apollo App Review: Fresh, RSS Reading By Adobe

Adobe released the Apollo run time as an alpha release today. Hidden away on a Labs webpage, somewhat difficult to find, is a list of sample Apollo applications. One of them is Fresh (.air file), an RSS Reader that's been built by Adobe.

Fresh is a skinable RSS Reader, showing you the latest entries from your favourite RSS feeds. The data for the RSS feeds is stored locally, unfortunately, so you can't use the same application to read your RSS feeds from two different machines. Hopefully that will come in a future version: we'll have to wait and see.

For now, there's the start of a promising RSS reader in Apollo, something I know a lot of people have been wanting for a while.

Have you built an Apollo app that you'd like the world to know about? Contact me to let me know about it and I may blog about it on RIApedia.
