Ryan Stewart has a blog post today about RibbitPhone, which is announcing and showing off a new VoIP component for Flex developers to use in their rich Internet applications. The RibbitPhone team will be previewing their work at the 360 Flex Conference, which is going on this week in Seattle. on the announcement. The team has also made documentation available online for those who are eager to sign up for things, and have a developer website setup for people to get more information.

If you aren't at 360 Flex, you've got two upcoming chances to learn more about Flex. First up, Flex Camp Vancouver at the end of August. A full day of information about Flex, with some really great presenters. If you need more, or can't make that event, then Adobe MAX has it all.

There's some very interesting news out in the blogosphere today about Flex, Flash and the upcoming voice over IP revolution. (I guess its a revolution for those people who aren't yet using Skype or Vonage.) First off, news from Read / Write Web that a company called SIPphone has launched a new service called GizmoCall, that allows you to place phone calls from directly in your browser. The GizmoCall plugin is a Flex application that allows you to communicate to the outside world using FlashPlayer's microphone access abilities.

You'll recall that Om Malik broke the news in September about an internal Adobe project called Adobe Voice.

Then, news today from Ryan Stewart that Adobe has aquired a small company called Antepo, which according to the Adobe page "developed the Antepo Open Presence Network (OPN) System — an award-winning platform for Enterprise Instant Messaging and Presence capabilities — enabling real-time communication and collaboration while meeting critical business requirements for control, security, integration, and compliance."

Is this the start of Flash's push into the VOIP market? Time will tell, but there's some interesting news coming together in the past few days.
